Can you believe I actually had a day off?!?!
Erin came to Humble to pick-up her husband at the airport, so I had an opportunity to visit with the kids for a few hours. Its great to have such a happy and non-confrontational relationship with Erin. Four-hours with the kids passed by in a blink of an eye. I treasure every second I can spend with my wonderful kids.
I was listening to my iPhone when I heard the Pre-Game speech from the movie, "Any Given Sunday". I’ve always enjoyed this speech and keep it on my iPod for races. There’s a small segment in the middle that has a bit of relativeness (is this a word?) and it struck a sensitive nerve today. Here are a few lines from the speech:
“I look around and I see these young faces and I think, I mean, I made every wrong choice a middle age man could make. I’ve pissed away all my money… believe it or not. I chased off anyone who has ever loved me. And lately, I can't even stand the face I see in the mirror.
You know when you get old in life things get taken from you. That's a part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losing stuff. You find out that life is just a game of inches.”
I went to the gym to blow off some steam, which was uber productive. Contrary to my original belief, strength training has a large mental component. I felt good today, but my mind was somewhere else. My pre-occupied mind made the workout a lot tougher than it should have been. There was an element missing, mental toughness. Either way, I survived the session.

Relativeness: yeah, that's a word. Could have used pertinence also. But I'm no expert or word Nazi.
