What is wrong with these punk-ass kids in our society!?!?

Worked 11 hours at MSC

The week just started and I’m already exhausted. I had a close call at work today. I was pulling a pallet of 72 ceramic sinks (probably 400-500 pounds). I was walking backwards and tripped over the forks of the forklift. Before I could do anything my left foot was pinned between the pallet jack and the fork of the lift. It’s amazing that nothing broke… at least it doesn’t appear so. The injury is not as bad as it could have been, other than being painful to the touch, minor swelling, and a laceration.

The accident might have been karma for my actions at lunch. Long story short, I nearly made a punk-ass kid cry.

For those interested, here’s the detailed story: I was eating lunch at Whataburger. I was sitting near the soda dispensing machine, facing the windows. An older man was cleaning his vehicle at the car wash. I watched him walk into the restaurant and ask for a water cup. They handed him a small clear water cup, but he pleaded for a larger cup because it was “really hot outside”. He filled the new larger cup with water and walked back to the car wash next door. He immediately gave the cup to his son, who was now walking towards the restaurant. Once inside the store the boy poured out the water and refilled it was soda. This wasn’t an ordinary kid, this was a punk. The kid was about 17 years old, he had tattoos on his neck, HUGE diamond studs in each ear lobe, and his pants were hanging off his ass for the world to see. While drinking his fountain drink he stood there looking around, as if to see is anyone was watching. I kept constant eye contact with him to let him know he wasn’t getting away with it. I must have made him nervous because he refilled his cup again and sat down at a booth like the other PAYING patrons. Once I finished my lunch I walked over to him and asked, “How do you feel about that?” to which he replied sarcastically, “WHAT!?” I said, “How does it make you feel to steal that soda?” Immediately he started to tell me a story how he bought this drink earlier today. I stopped him by saying, “You’re already a thief, now you want to be a liar too?” From that point on he never said another word, he simply starred at the table, although that didn’t stop me from telling him that I had watched everything he had done. I did this in a moderately loud voice, for the other people to hear, hoping it would embarrass him enough to think about his actions. Before my rant was finished I could tell his eyes were glassed over. He was either consciously ignoring me or on the verge of crying.

I don’t know what came over me to say what I did. For sure I’m tired of these punk-ass kids ruining our society. If people like him are our future, then we are all doomed. These dumbass kids don’t have an education, work ethic, or a lick of respect… yet WE THE PEOPLE allow them to live off government aid and behave the way they do. This one little rant won’t change much, but maybe he’ll think twice when he steals something. In his mind he probably said, “It’s just soda”… but isn’t that where it starts? Today it is a fountain drink and next week he’s breaking into cars!?!?

Rambling over, back to our regularly schedule broadcast…
