What a wonderful day this turning out to be! Today is father’s day and I did exactly what I wanted; I spent the day with my wonderful kids. No one reminded the kids that it was father’s day, but I know, and that is all that matters.
We spent most of the weekend celebrating Preston’s fourth birthday. I can’t believe my “little man” is already four years old. I love my kids so much that I can’t put my feelings into words. Through my actions, I hope they know how much I love them.
The kids and I started the morning with a walk along the bayou trail. It was already too hot outside, so we cut the walk short. We also went for a small run near the end, which was relatively successful.
Simplified injury report:
-The foot/toe pain is all but gone.
-The left knee bursitis is still there without any reduction in size and discomfort.
-The right knee is holding strong. There’s a lot less pain, but the entire joint still looks, “puffy”.
Went to dads and spent some time visiting him and mom before dropping the kids off. Erin and I met in Conroe and took them to Chucky Cheese to continue Preston’s birthday festivities. Even if it was only for 30-45 minutes, I enjoy the feeling of being a “functional family unit”. Erin and I have been able to maintain our friendship, but it is just that, friends; nothing more and nothing less. I’m okay with this, yet there is something pure about those fleeting moments when we interact like a family.
Once I got back home I reinforced the dog kennel with another layer of metal wire mesh. I placed Blazer in the kennel and I watched from inside the house as she tried to escape. She is too damn smart and too strong. She pulls and tugs on the metal until something gives and then she relentlessly works that spot. In a little more than 20 minutes she had already tore down one section of wire and was only minutes from a getaway. I’m at my wits end and don’t know what to do. She only acts crazy when she is confined. When I’m home with her, she is the perfect pet. But like I said, she will NOT be confined and will destroy anything in her path to freedom.
I went for a second walk on the bayou trail to calm my nerves and to meet today’s calorie burn. The scale is still treating me good, and it should because I’m putting in the work! As of this morning I’ve lost 20.5 lbs in exactly three-weeks. That’s nearly one-pound a day. Wooop!
