Scott and I walked before getting off work this morning. Oh how I loathe mornings, but it sure is nice to get a bulk of the cardio out of the way before the day starts.
The kids are home and I couldn’t be happier!!! I was excited to introduce the kids to my new friend, Blazer. Unfortunately, Blazer didn’t share the same excitement I did. She was timid and standoffish initially. Later in the day she started acting aggressive towards the kids. Without being provoked she would lunge at them and start barking. One time she even nipped at Preston, very close to his neck. The safety of my kids will always be priority one, so Blazer went back to where she came from. This was quite sad because they said she will not be eligible for re-adoption with this type of reported behavior. We all know that is a death sentence for her. She seemed like a great dog and I wish things would have turned out differently….
Attended the Kingwood Triathlon Club social meeting at Los Cucos. There were two guest speakers, one of which is hosting an Olympic triathlon in the Kingwood area! Believe it or not, I won yet another race entry. This time I allowed them to re-raffle the entry to another member because;
1. I can’t be ready for an Olympic distance race in three months
2. I’ve already won several race entries.
The meeting moved on to Mike of Better Bikes, which talked about new triathlon gear in his shop and group bike rides departing from his store every Saturday. Alison and I received our club shirts today. The largest size offered was XL, so it will be awhile till I can wear mine. No disrespect to those involved, but I doubt the shirt would be a favorite because the graphics seem a bit cheesy. Maybe I should try to play a role in designing something new for consideration in the future?!?! One last comment;
Dear Los Cucos, charging me EIGHT DOLLARS for one adult and two kids iced tea is RIDICULOUS!
Minutes before dusk the kids and I walked two miles on the bayou trail. There were lots of bats out this evening. Other than being crazy hot, it was a good walk.
Walk:
5.57 miles
1:40:42
18:05 pace
Run:
0.18 mile
2:00
11:07 pace
Sorry that things with Blazer didn't work out. I am catching up on my blog reading...looks like someone is doing a tri! :-)
