At work today
The average person has no idea how non-biased emergency workers are. I’m primarily speaking of Firefighters and Paramedics. I was reminded of our lack of bias on an EMS call this morning. We found a patient in the front seat of a car who was nearly unconscious due to crack cocaine drug use. The crew helping the patient consisted of a woman, two Hispanic males, and one black male. This is worthy of nothing because the patient had a swastika tattooed on the middle of his forehead. The female friend of the patient alerted us that the patient has a highly contagious blood disorder (I’m trying to be vague due to HIPPA policies). When the call was done I thought to myself, I can proudly say we treated this patient exactly the same as any other patient. And that is a good feeling!
Several of the guys and I are trying to see how many push-ups we can do during the shift. We’ve been doing random numbers of push-ups every 30 minutes. The regimen was easy till noon, but I’ve been struggling the last few hours. The current number is 250 and I think I’m done!
Push-ups: 250
A group of four guys (Steve C, Scott B, Kevin M, and myself) went running at the same time. Everyone did their “own thing”, but it was nice to collectively run as a group. In an attempt to complete a “long run” I increased the 8 x 2-minute run/1-minute walk intervals to 12 intervals.
Run:
2.18 miles
24:00
11:01 pace
Walk:
1.42 miles
24:19
17:07 pace
