For a few days I’ve had a slow air leak in my trail bike tire. Before lunch I made sure it had plenty of air and cycled fast as I could to Bike Werks, a local bike shop. Nice people, although a bit pricy. Truth be known… I like the small town shops. At no extra charge they installed the tube I purchased.
Pleasant ride as the next cool front is blowing through. Thankfully the trees along the greenbelts shielded me from the wind.

The temperatures dropped 10-15 degrees between the time I rode my bike and went walking. No complaints from me, I like it! Two mile walk was over in a flash. I complain about STUPID people frequently on this site, so I apologize if you don’t like it. Lucky for me, this blog is MY podium to voice MY opinion. With that being said;
The one-mile turnaround point today was near the children’s park and playground. The area also has the community pool and a parking lot. I watched an older lady and two of her dogs getting out of a car, which suggest she does not live close (Trailwood resident). A few minutes later when I came back by she was watching her dog crap on the play ground. Not just the park, the dog was in the area that has an elevated border with mulch that encompasses the play set. Soon as the dog finished she and her dogs walked the other way. What a LOSER. I wanted to say something soooo bad, but I didn’t. I’m tired of being pissed off at stupid people.

Strength Training: Lower Body
I attended my first Kingwood Triathlon Club meeting tonight. I joined the club a few weeks ago with the aspirations to attempt a triathlon this year. There appears to be some enthusiastic restructuring within the club, hence the social meeting tonight. Club Officer Patrick has been very helpful and has guided me to different health clubs where I can work on the swimming aspect of a triathlon. I’ve been intimidated to be an active part of the club merely cause of my weight. Tonight I decided to put my insecurities away and put myself out there for everyone to accept or reject.
What a GREAT decision I made to attend the meeting! The Kingwood Triathlon Club is VERY hospitable. We listened to Greg Pennington of Out Loud Productions talk about local races and the many opportunities for club members to volunteer. In return Mr. Pennington offered an assortment of raffle prizes including; THREE triathlon race entries, two cases of Gatorade, two boxes of power gel, and tons of socks. Before the presentation started I had the opportunity to talk to Mr. Pennington about triathlons suited for beginners, like me. Greg suggested several local races, some of which were not his races. I thought this was a classy move on his part. As luck would have it I WON a race entry!!! To sweeten the deal it was the race Greg suggested to me earlier. I’m stoked about this and can’t wait to start training. Now I have something to work towards, not vague comment likes “I want to do a triathlon this year”. Now I can proclaim, I’m doing the 2011 Clear Lake International Triathlon on August 27th.
The club perks didn’t end with the race entry. Each table had a variety of tasty Los Cucos appetizers and piles of Hammer Gel, which happens to be my favorite gel brand! I received my club discount card tonight and meet a few of the club members. We were in a small area of the restaurant with a large birthday party beside us, which made it a challenge to mingle or hear the presentation. Other than those two minor issues, it was a great night. I look forward to being an active member of this club!
Picture of my loot....
Sweet! Greg is a GREAT race director. We're lucky to have him in this area. The Clear Lake Tri is moving to the League City side of the lake this year, I've heard, which should make the course even better than before. :)
