Couple birds and a damn dog

Forty minute walk followed by a thirty minute trail bike ride. Saw a couple neat birds today. Near the shore of Lake Kingwood, I saw a pelican. I’ve never seen a pelican in this body of water before today. This particular one was as big as a goose! Near the end of my bike ride I disturbed a hawk during dinner. I couldn’t see what he was after, but it was small. I saw him take flight and drop it as I approached. Whatever it was scurried into the nearby bushes.

After a couple dreary days of misting rain it turned out to be a nice day outdoors. Mid-body workout was uneventful. The push-ups are starting to get difficult.

Walk:
2.39 miles
39:39
16:35 pace

Trail Bike:
5.41 miles
28:56
11.22 mph

Strength Training: Mid-Body

Push-ups: 51

General Rambling:
I find the rising "value" of gold an interesting topic. You know it's a fad when there is hype to sell your gold at the mall and late night programs proclaiming you can be an overnight millionaire by investing in gold.
Davy Ramsey said it best today, "Gold is the Snuggie of investing". That is FUNNY!
Dave also made a good point when he said, Lots of people claim they invest in gold just in case there is a disaster or currency loses value. Then he said, "How useful was a bar of gold in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina? It wasn’t very useful at all!" Given the perfect scenario, I probably could have found someone to trade me a bar of gold for a few batteries and 5-gallons of fuel!!

Last week I thought to myself, I’d like to have a dog. I posted this on Facebook and even wrote that I must need to see a psychiatrist because of this comment. Ironically, a friend asked me to watch her dog this weekend. Needless to say it was a fiasco and my thoughts of an inside dog are completely gone… hopefully forever. She was a sweet dog, but I’m glad she was only here for a couple days!
