Blackberry-Vanilla Chai

My morning smoothie has gone from one extreme to the next. Today’s blackberry-vanilla chai smoothie was delightful! I took some useful advice from Karen and reduced the amount of Vega I use. Since I’m monitoring my caloric intake I also decided adding nut milk was a nonessential ingredient. The berry seeds were a bit annoying, but the taste easily made up for the issue. Here’s my simple, yet tasty recipe for blackberry vanilla chai smoothie;
1 scoop of vanilla Chai Vega (1/2 serving)
1.5 cup wild blackberries (I used the berries I picked last summer)
1 heaping TBSP Splenda
2 cups cold filtered water

I walked around the bayou trail today. I followed three interesting tracks in the soft dirt, all easily identifiable. One was from a small horse. The KW FFA farm is only a couple miles away and they often ride along the bayou. The other track was a whitetail deer, probably a doe because the print was medium size and not too deep. The third track was a little more unusual, it was human…. barefoot. First thing I noticed was the depth of the imprint at the front of the foot, which meant they were probably running. A mile later I saw a texture at the bottom of the imprint, so they were probably wearing Vibram 5-fingers. I’m thankful to family members (Kevin) who have taught me how to study the details of such things…

My walk was uneventful other than the above stated.

Walk:
2.17 miles
37:55
17:30 pace

Strength training: Lower Body

Push-ups: 25

Andrea and I walk/run to Schlotzski’s for a veggie sandwich. Kind of defeats the purpose, huh!?!? Nice run, even with the high humidity. I need more trails, all this concrete is killing my legs…

Walk:
1.03 mile
19:20
18:46 pace

Run:
1.57 mile
18:00
11:28 pace

Notice I moved the weight lost tracker at the top of my blog. Now, it is time to watch the Biggest Loser season premiere!
