New Orleans Bound

Today has been all go-go-go. URG...

The first three-quarters of the day were spent driving six hours to New Orleans, retrieving our race packets from the expo, and finding our hotel. Not exactly the way I planned to spend the day before a marathon.

Confession time;
I ate badly all day. No meat and no calorie dense drinks, but my total caloric intake was probably off the chart.

The expo was a lot nicer than expected. I’ve heard the “Rock and Roll marathon” series is a money machine and we witnessed it firsthand. At least half of the expo was RnR apparel with robust prices. Business must be good, because people was lining up at the register.

While walking around the "other" expo vendors Andrea spotted two reality television celebrities. In front of us were Vicky and Brady from the Biggest Loser. They weren’t there on a speaking engagement, just everyday people picking up their race packets, like us. On television Vicky was portrayed as a villain, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. They were incredibly nice and spent a LOT of time talking to Andrea and me. I was shocked that no one else seemed to recognize them. It was surreal to walk through the expo talking with people we watched every week on tv.

We drove around for over an hour trying to find a pizzeria near our hotel. We ended up settling for a little Italian restaurant we found, unfortunately they didn’t serve pizza. Our pre-race meal ended up being eggplant parmesan with a side of angel hair pasta topped with marinara sauce.
